Statement of the Presidency of the Socialist Party of Albania
It has become a phenomenon of recent days, especially after Berisha’s statements in Helsinki about relations with our neighbours, and in particular with Greece. The cause is a strange mixture of unstable sloganism and an extremist left-wing vocabulary, which serves to cover up the failures of foreign policy.
The Socialist Party considers that good-neighbourly relations are not achieved through loud calls, irresponsible accusations, and by encouraging an anti-Albanian or anti-Greek climate. They require calm, moderation, mutual respect, and a serious foreign policy.
Instead of working for regional cooperation, unnecessary tensions are being produced. This harms national interests and weakens Albania’s international position.
